Wide a-fecking- wake

I spent seven hours gardening yesterday, including a load of digging out and weeding. Ached all over and was so tired afterwards. Had a bath and dinner then went to bed at 9.30. I've now been awake since 00.40. I'm knackered, I'm still achy, but cannot sleep I've got up, made a redbush tea and put the telly on. How can I get to sleep?

I don’t know but if you find out, tell me!

So annoying - I'm bone and brain tired. The cat looked at me like I was crackers when I got up. She was out on the razz when I went to bed.

I feel you. Went to bed at 00:30 and woke up wide awake at 04:00. Been a pattern for the last fortnight but on and off much longer than that. Busy day, calm day - doesn't make a difference. I don't drink caffeine at all. Doesn't seem to matter!

For sleeping tonight I'd turn the telly off and go for a book instead. Snuggle down on the sofa with a blanket and read, and if the mood takes you to rest your eyes go with it. You might find you drop off. I sometimes manage to get a doze in at about 5:30-6:30 that tops me up.

ITV has a programme on just for likes of us - Unwind with ITV. Currently showing an apple on a branch gently swaying in the breeze. It was cows in a field a few minutes ago.

I love the fact your cat was ‘out on the razz’ - not heard that in years. Is she home yet?

maddiemookins16mum · 12/06/2022 07:44

But seriously, I find the ‘nothing much happens’ app brilliant, it’s adult bedtime stories (nowt rude by the way).

My rule of thumb is if I haven't fallen asleep after an hour in bed is to get up. Go to another room, have a drink and read a book for at least 30 minutes.
Getting back into a cool bed seems to help me.

After I went back upstairs I did fall asleep after a short time and slept until DP flushed the ensuite loo. I've had more than 7 hours sleep but do feel knackered.

@maddiemookins16mum - cat was out when I went to bed and curled up asleep by my feet when I first woke up. She followed me downstairs later and went to sleep in the kitchen. Clearly I was disturbing her.
