hi mums my best friend passed away recently and her mum has asked me to write a few memories down and what made me smile about her I am just wondering well I'll be the one reading it out or will the vicar read it

Ask your mum.
Are you doing a reading or is it so the vicar can talk about her when he does his prayers.

Very sorry for your loss OP.

I would expect her mum to have asked you, had she wanted you to read it yourself as this is quite a big ask on such a sad day.
Asking you to write some words to me reads that someone else will read your feelings out loud.

No one here will be able to advise you though because there is genuinely no standard form for funerals. Every funeral is different because they are designed by the bereaved families to reflect their wishes.
You will need to ask your friend’s mum. She might not know herself yet. It might help her to see your thoughts written down and then she’ll be able to start to envision the service. Just write from your heart.
