I left my 16 year old at home for 24 hours and he ate...

A ready meal (mac & cheese)
A pot noodle
A family sized pizza
A full tub of 40 cocktail sausages
At least 2 big buckets full of buttered popcorn (maybe more, but only evidence of two pots where he melted the butter).
4 and half bags of crisps
Several bowls of cereal (I'd guess about 3 or 4 from the number of bowls left)
Multiple rounds of toast/sandwiches- about half a loaf worth, with a mix of fillings - choc spread, jam, cheese, soft cheese
A block of feta
A 2 person packet of fresh tortellini
and something chocolately that came in a plastic tub that I can't remember what would have been in there, but there was definitely cocoa powder residue in the bottom of the container.

He did not eat the cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks, hummus, apples, grapes, bananas or yoghurts.

He's as skinny as a rake!

I'm not complaining as we were away on a Uni visit with eldest, and he was alone overnight for the first time and the house was still standing, the cats and dogs were fed and let out appropriately (the dog wasn't actually walked, but we went early evening to early evening, so we've walked her early Friday then late Saturday and she's only a Chi cross that doesn't need hours of walking), but no poo, so he def did garden runs with her. The house was pretty tidy apart from the stack of dirty crockery and empty food packaging.

How would your 16 year old son have fared?

Oh and a full pack of 8 jumbo sausage rolls and half a tin of baked beans. I'm calling the baked beans a win - that's one portion of his 5 a day!

I’ve no idea how normal this is as my boys are primary age but gawd now I’m terrified of what’s to come! 😂

CentrifugalBumblePuppy · 11/06/2022 20:18

I swear I didn’t have a teenage son, I had a Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Now 30, he can eat until mere mortals would explode, and still takes a size XS in jeans & t-shirts.

Half man, half tapeworm.

GetOffTheTableMabel · 11/06/2022 20:18

I was waiting for him to turn into a butterfly. Your post reads like the beginning of The Very Hungry Caterpillar!

SingleHandSue · 11/06/2022 20:18

Mine would probably have ordered in a kfc or maccies, drunk copious amounts of apple juice or milk (probably both) and eaten all the biscuits and chocolate in the house.

He’s a greedy bugger but ultimately lazy so wouldn’t have bothered to look for much food.

mrsm43s · 11/06/2022 20:19

No definitely not a party. Well not an in-person one anyway. Almost certain he will have been up online all night gaming though. He always eats loads!

That amount of food indicates he may have had friends round.

mrsm43s · 11/06/2022 20:19

I can guarantee he didn't have anyone round.

Haha DS is only 8 but I'm preparing myself for the food shop bills coming our way Grin

Georgeskitchen · 11/06/2022 20:25

My extremely skinny son would have given him a run for his money 🤣🤣🤣

Sounds like my BIL.

Mumski45 · 11/06/2022 20:28

Sounds normal for my 16 year old.

User3568975431146 · 11/06/2022 20:29

Why on earth would you leave a 16yr old alone in the house for 24hours!!! Jeesh!!

TicTac80 · 11/06/2022 20:29

Mine turns 16 later this year. He's also skinny (but does do a lot of walking/running). If he was left alone at home for 24hrs, he would have eaten the contents of the fruit bowl, every bloody tomato or berry he could find in the fridge, cheese and crackers, all the crisps he could find. Oh and pistachios - he LOVES those. Having said that, this is the current situ: I've run down a lot of the freezer foods etc, there are no crisps in the house, he LOVES fruit/tomatoes and so on...

Why wouldn't you. Do you have a 16 year old !

TicTac80 · 11/06/2022 20:30

if he had access to pizza, he's eat LOADS of that too!
