Boring I know. We've been eating more butter rather than spreads recently. I've bought the spreadable butters and they are reasonably good but still not as good as proper butter.

I've seen loads of different butter dishes on-line but I basically want one that keeps it fresh and spreadable without too much hassle.

Anyone got one that they would recommend?

Anthropologie have a couple of spectacular ones- www.anthropologie.com/en-gb/search?q=butter They used to do a round one which was beautiful.

This would be my go to but is out of stock- www.amazon.co.uk/Quail-Ceramics-Guinea-butter-multi-coloured/dp/B01MUH6D7L

We had the traditional rectangular saucer with a lid type for years, but I hated how they always got gummed up and greasy. I then got this glass storage container from a local hardware shop and it’s perfect- holds a stick of butter (wrapped or unwrapped), thick glass so keeps the butter at the right temperature, and just does the job.

Some lovely looking ones though I will favour function over aesthetics :)

It's my birthday on Monday and DH been badgering me for something I'd want. SO i've told him a butter dish! 😂

You mean two butter dishes. One to use, one in the wash!

I really like Burleigh but a bit £ for a butter dish

Mine has been cracked which annoyed me, not enough to replace though

We have the Asiatic blue one

That is adorable. Looking askance at my perfectly serviceable butter dishes which have served me well, but aren’t Guinea pigs. Luckily for them looks as though the gp is out of stock.

Oh yes I do! Not at £62 each though @MarshaBradyo ! They are beautiful though.

We have the Kilner one and leave it out all the time; mind
you we don’t have central heating so unless the oven is on, it keeps itself cool in winter 😂

MarshaBradyo · 11/06/2022 14:27

I know they are a lot

Ours was a wedding present iirc

Poor thing has been bashed around a bit : (

BinBandit · 11/06/2022 14:28

Just looking at other Quail ceramics stuff - definitely some cute and some weird stuff.

elQuintoConyo · 11/06/2022 14:33

Ours is white ceramic, looks like a sardine tin, from Flying Tiger, around €4.

Like this pic, but ceramic:

We're in Spain, it keeps butter cool really well.

Was going to post about how much I like my le Creuset butter dish (John Lewis, lots of colours, or sometimes you find them in Tkmaxx ) or pretty ones available at Anthropologie. But now I'm obsessed with the guinea pig one.

BonnesVacances · 11/06/2022 14:51

Just get the Lakeland one. By the time you've bought and discarded others because they've chipped or your butter melts into a puddle, it'll be cheaper overall.

CruCru · 11/06/2022 14:59

This one. It’s metal so doesn’t smash when the children knock it onto the floor. I like having a flat bottom with the lid having the depth, otherwise I have to each in to get the butter.

CruCru · 11/06/2022 15:03

Or this

SheWoreYellow · 11/06/2022 15:04

I like china rather than metal so it can go into the microwave for 10s in the winter. Apart from that all you need is for it to be covered so anything will do.

Isabelle70 · 11/06/2022 15:07

I have a Nigella Lawson one that's about 10 years old and still going strong, very similar to this one

MidwichCuckoo · 11/06/2022 16:34

I admit my kilner one does have the failing that it's not a guinea pig sadly 😔

Antarcticant · 11/06/2022 16:37

I've got a lovely William Morris one that was a present from my mum.

saveforthat · 11/06/2022 16:44

Ive got the Lakeland one. Its brilliant and goes in the dishwasher

saveforthat · 11/06/2022 16:49

The Alessi ship shape takes round blocks. I bought it but got sick of washing it so put it in the dishwasher and the plastic cracked.

Forgothowmuchlhatehomeschoolin · 11/06/2022 16:59

I use a plastic clip lid tub - not pretty but does the job
