Hi all
ive been experiencing symptoms of increased anxiety recently: heart pounding and feeling like it’s in my throat, knotted stomach and it’s really affecting digestive system (loose stools).

i have had a lot going on recently with plans to move house, a part time degree, starting a new business and travelling for a holiday and sorting the COVID tests.

any advice on how to manage anxiety?

Go and see your GP and your college mental health service. via college you should be able to get a fairly quick referral for CBT, you can discuss w your GP if it’s worth also considering medication while you work on the CBT.

Sorry if I sound patronising or silly but avoiding stressful situations is one of the best ways to deal with anxiety. I have anxiety and had experienced these symptoms a lot. I identified the things that triggered my anxiety and I've been avoiding them. I changed job which felt like a great risk but now I'm much better off and don't experience anxiety as much.

If the situations that trigger your anxiety are unavoidable then you could look into therapies such as mindfulness and failing that get a review with your GP who may prescribe you medicine.

Wishing you all the best, it will get better.
