Facebook: weird/controlling behaviour?

At least the second time I think this has happened: I upload a bunch of photos, say a dozen photos of a holiday or a day trip. I get a few likes/comments and then all goes quiet on that post. Then, about a week later, I suddenly start getting people liking/commenting on one particular (nice person profile type photo) photo from the album. And FB says “username added a new photo” (to that album). No - this photo was there all along.

Its like FB either decided randomly to “ repromote “a photo to generate more likes/clicks (falsely stating that I just added a new photo). Or even worse - it perhaps hid that nice specific photo in the original post and THEN, one week later, publishes that particular photo, falsely stating it’s a new photo. Either way it seems deeply manipulative and dishonest. Anyone had similar?

Describing Facebook as controlling or deeply manipulative is very far-fetched!

Isn't it more likely that the person(s) commenting or liking that particular photo haven't been on FB for a little while and it's what they see on their news feed when they next sign in?

FB is a pain in the arse for showing very old posts on the news feed - every day I see things my friends have posted days, sometimes even weeks ago, most of which I saw when they were originally posted. Even with 'most recent' selected, I don't always get the most recent posts. It has been like this for at least a couple of years and I get tired of it.

@Squiff70

but it literally states (visible to me and I assume anyone else) “XYZ added a new photo to album X”. That is factually false. I added that photo along with all the other photos at the time of creating the album.

I’m fine with FB regurgitating old content to generate clicks/user interaction. It’s sometimes stupid and annoying as you say but it’s not dishonest. But this seems downright dishonest.

Its not a big deal of course, I’m just speaking out loud whether I should use the platform as I find the whole company/product pretty horrible (but unfortunately there’s no decent alternative for keeping in touch with many people).

It sounds very much like a glitch rather than dishonesty. Your choice of words is utterly bizarre.
