Child with broken thumb

Have name changed as very obvious to my friends.

DS(10) managed to fall awkwardly and has fractured his thumb at the tip and bottom. The brushing is spectacular. He's in a splint and has a hand therapy appointment soon.

How long will the swelling persist, it's getting worse rather than better (did it at the weekend). Is that expected? Never has a broken bone myself! He's managed every other day at school but it's very sore still, did you're child need time off?

Just wondering what to expect in terms if times for recovery. Been told no sport for 3mths.

he should keep the arm elevated as much as possible.

from experience, the swelling lasts about a week but should be much better after a couple of days of rest & elevation,

good luck!

Thank you, it's very sore but he stayed off school today and yesterday and the swelling has gone down quite a bit.
