I think I've been scammed on Vinted. Has anyone used Royal Mail tracked before? Does this look legit?

I bought an item 7 days ago. Seller has used Royal Mail tracked 48 and sent the attached photo as proof of postage. Royal Mail tracking is saying they're 'expecting the item'. Seller is insisting the item has been sent.

I've never used RM 48 hour tracked before so I don't know how it works but I'm wondering if the proof of postage attached is generated online when you pay for postage rather than when you send it. It was sent to me a fee minutes after I bought the item at 9pm so I cant imagine that's been done at a post office.

If you bought seven days ago there were two bank holidays plus Sunday so your seller could only have actually put it in the post office on Saturday or Monday but they prepared the postage at home in advance which is perfectly normal. I’d think your item will arrive today. The Royal Mail website has been very unreliable for up to date information for at least a year.
I doubt you’ve been scammed here, the long weekend plays a part.

That's for the reply. I hope you're right. Vinted has buyer protection so even if it is a scam I'm covered, it's just hassle of it. I've just got a gut feeling, I've used vinted a lot and this one doesn't seem right. They're saying they posted it on Wednesday. Even accounting for the bank holidays there should be some movement but then if the tracking system isn't reliable then maybe not.

I'll give it a few more days.

The tracking site is incredibly unreliable unfortunately. I wouldn’t panic just yet, some areas are still experiencing post delays, the pandemic is still affecting some areas of business with staff absences. I would think if it was posted Wednesday not much would have happened until Monday so it would be due to arrive today.

It looks like seller has generated postage online, but it’s either not yet in their system or not yet been taken to the post office by the seller. It’s now Thursday, so if you check later this morning, if it’s still say expecting the item, then you need to contact the seller again as I doubt they’ve taken it to be sent.

Not Vinted, but I had this with Royal Mail on something I ordered from Amazon 3 or 4 weeks ago. Amazon said it was with RM, RM said they were expecting my item. It stayed that way for over a week, then finally said they had it one day, and they delivered the next. The fact you have a tracking number would suggest there is an item, but Royal Mail are crap.

I am also expecting a 'delayed' item not from vinted but royal mail so I'm thinking the same about bank holidays etc. Hope you get your item and enjoy it!

Discovereads · 09/06/2022 06:47

It’s the bank holidays plus the backlog created by the bank holidays causing no movement on the tracking website. Have had this lots of times with RM.

Hi! I'm in a similar situation with a dodgy looking postage receipt and stuck on 'item despatched to royal mail' for 7 days. Did you get your item in the end?

ThatWittyNewt · 25/09/2024 09:20

I had same thing. Still haven't received item. Don't know why they do it as vinted don't release money till item received and okayed. Just frustrating and annoying for the hassle
