Self prick tests .....

I recently did a finger prick test for a kit to give me an overall analysis on my liver health.

Are these a waste of time? A bit of a con?

Has anyone had negative results from one and then gone onto see their GP?

Mine has come back normal, but I'm just wondering if it's a bit of a gimmick.

Mine was for liver function - all was normal range.

I would be keen on what any actual doctors thing of these self prick tests.

What we’re you looking for when you did the test? If you have reasons to wonder about liver function or other health issues you should discuss it with an HCP. Without a background tests can be useless

If it’s from a legitimate company (Thriva, Medichecks, etc), yes, I would assume it’s accurate if you did it correctly. I often use these tests in between NHS ones (have a LTC that can affect my liver and other things) and the results are generally similar to my less regular NHS tests.

Is there a specific concern you have? The liver is pretty robust. It has to be in pretty bad shape for abnormal results on most things. There’s also lots of things that can also mimic what people think are ‘liver problems’.

Thank you for responses! It's just me and wondering if my liver is fucked after 25 years of indulgence
