Trying to figure out what's done this to me and its the only thing I've had different than usual. Drank half a mug 2 hours ago, tipped the rest away as it was rank. I've blown up like a beach ball, so tight and painful I can't straighten up.

Has it got any kind of sweetener or sugar alcohol in it? That's what always does it for me.

Mount2Climb · 06/06/2022 16:07

I'm actually drinking it right now as I love it and feel fine on it.
I don't usually do well on sweeteners.
It could be the ingredients in it or it could cyclical (PMS) if that's relevant to you.
It has Permeate powder as the first ingredient in the belgian chocolate one and that is high in lactose. How are you normally with dairy? Are you absolutely sure you ate and drank nothing different at all?

Sweetners for me too. Can’t drink it gives me cramps and I have to poo straight away! xxx

Sweeteners I can drink one cup no more

MissWired · 06/06/2022 16:20

It's the artificial sweeteners - they go right through you and feed the bacteria in your gut, who promptly breed like fury.

Incidentally, sweeteners are one of the worst things that you can eat on a diet - your brain tastes the sweetness of them but can't find any calories from them, so prompts you to eat even more.

It's got sorbitol or something like that in it. I had to stop drinking it because I worked out it was giving me the shits. Awful stuff.

You could have a dairy intolerance if your tummy is swollen up. Keep a food diary for a week and then you will be able to narrow down what it is you are eating/drinking that is bloating you. Is it painful and do you have gas/belching. I don't have dairy now but if I do I am in agony, belly swells up so big I look pregnant.

I think you're all right-itsbthr sweetners I'm sure. I've thrown it in the bin. My stomach is so distended and nothings coming out 😩

Just looked it up on the Sainsbury's website:

Milk Permeate Powder, Fat-Reduced Cocoa Powder (21%), Sugar, Belgian Chocolate (7%) (Sugar, Cocoa Mass, Fat-Reduced Cocoa Powder, Flavouring), Thickener (Xanthan Gum), Dried Glucose Syrup, Skimmed Milk Powder, Coconut Oil, Salt, Emulsifiers (Sunflower Lecithin, E472e), Sweetener (Aspartame), Anti-Caking Agent (E551), Flavouring, Stabiliser (E340ii)

It'll likely be the Aspartame. Mad that they put this stuff in so many things now, there's barely any soft drinks I can have :-(
