I'm usually pretty lax with best before dates....but it's a soft cheese...

Open it still sealed? The fresh sort or the pizza sort?

Retrievemysanity · 06/06/2022 11:24

If it’s unopened I’m sure it’ll be fine.

DropYourSword · 06/06/2022 11:25

It is a week old or a week past it's use by date?

Sealed - just bog standard ball of mozzarella. Use by 25 May.

If it tastes OK, and isn't mouldy it's fine. I've found that out of date mozzarella can taste a bit sour, so that would be the indicator that it's past it's best.

JudgeRindersMinder · 06/06/2022 11:27

It’ll be absolutely fine

DropYourSword · 06/06/2022 11:28

I'd do a sniff/taste test. It's probably fine since it's sealed but I'd check it before putting a load into a recipe

minipie · 06/06/2022 11:30

Are you cooking with it or eating as is? If cooking I really wouldn’t worry.

TBH I’d still eat it as is too, as long as it smells and tastes ok, but those with delicate stomachs might be more cautious.

SteelCicada · 06/06/2022 12:50

Taste and see... If it tastes good it's fine. If it's sour and gross it won't do you any harm, but you'll have your answer!

TheRoadToRuin · 06/06/2022 12:52

If the pack is inflated or it fizzes when opened then no.
If it looks and smells ok I'd use it if cooking but maybe not raw.

BadAtMaths2 · 06/06/2022 17:10

One was fine, I was cooking with it. The other had a pink line running through it so I thought...no...
