My husband and I are off to Wales and one of the walks we fancy is Llyn Ogwen. Could anyone advise as to whether there is a track on the none road side? Google seems to say yes and no. We enjoy hiking but scrambling up rocks isn't what we fancy for that day.

Thank you in advance

Os map seems to say yes but I’ve just had a look on Google earth and there’s nothing obvious. I expect that part might be particularly damp as there are lots of streams coming down from the mountain there. I’m trying to upload a screenshot but can’t downsize it. Hang on.

Footpath just to the North skirting the lake.

Another option is to go round the back of Tryfan, to the saddle on the southern side and down past Llyn Idwal I think it’s called. Will be more climbing involved but it wouldn’t be classed as a scramble. You’ll get better views on that side as you’ll be higher up. Enjoy! I’m up there next weekend although I’m looking at the weather right now and think we might be unlucky.

Thanks so much! I'll give that alternate a look. Hope we both get good weather!

No worries, here’s a screengrab from Google earth showing the two options, blue for your original idea, red is the Tryfan option.

If you haven’t got it already, I really can’t recommend GE enough, it’s a godsend for working out terrain and where paths actually are.
