Anyone? My DS won’t talk to childline. I’m absolutely wrecked after the last three hours. We’re back from holiday and he doesn’t cope with transition well, to put it mildly. He has ADHD and is telling me he’s suicidal and it’s all my fault for being such an awful parent, and he wishes I’d died instead of his dad (DH died of cancer). I’m sure I could be managing things better. Meanwhile I have DD to think of too.

How old is DS? Is he genuinely suicidal so you think?

He's hurting and grieving and hasn't got emotional regulation down yet by the sounds of things.

Listen to him, cuddle, favourite snacks, sleep in with him tonight and have a day off tomorrow (have a telephone appointment with the GP) or if you're with paeds or camhs, phone them too.

You could try the Samaritans, telephone lines open 24/7.
Best wishes OP.

It sounds as though he's just so hugely overwhelmed with the transition from holiday to home and then school tomorrow or soon as well, that he's trying to frame and verbalise his intensity of overwhelm in the strongest terms he can to make you understand how he's so disregulated by it.

What do you use for calming strategies for him? Try those, slowly and gently.

There are lots of strategies here for helping with transitions and an awful lot more.

Thanks everyone. Really appreciate the replies, was too busy dealing with it all to be back on until now. Will read links etc. properly tomorrow. Things are calm again for now and should stay like that at least until tomorrow morning. I might even eat for the first time since noon.

Re Samaritans, I’ve rung them a few times over the past few years and no one’s ever been available to take my call. I guess they need more cash and volunteers, so much need around.
