Online Dating - younger men

I'm 43 and have recently started OLD. I get a lot of messages from men 5/6 years younger than me. Is this normal? Just wondering what they want. I doubt they're interested in a relationship with a 43 year old single mother 😂

Some men do prefer older women? But I find a lot of men of online dating are interested in hook ups or casual flings regardless of your age. So men are less picky on things like age/whether you have kids if they are just looking for a fuck!

It wouldn't hurt to chat with them and get an idea of what they want - not all of them are on there just for sex. And 5/6 years isn't putting you THAT much older than them anyway!

They are probably under the impression that single women of a certain age are desperate for it.

Yes! Don't let it put you off. 5-6 years younger is nothing. Men don't age as well as women, in my opinion. I doubt you'd look older than them.

I should add I've never online dated, but apparently it's normal.

Not much difference between 37 and 43...
Plenty of 37 year old are single mums too. And I'm sure you'll look much better than a fair few of them. Think my age range would probably start at 33 and up if I was 43

Some may want the relationship others in guessing like a older lady usually as they are seen as more experienced, ect, and theirs the influence of the American pie films and the tv series cougar town, as apparently older ladies are seen as cougars if dating a younger male.

Also, they might not want kids of their own and hope you're past the age of wanting more too.

Or, may be glad at least if she has them already - they may be more likely to be older children. So they can skip having to deal with the whole toddler tantrum stage.

Or it could even be the opposite. They may like the idea of a ready-made family to join.

I'm 6 years older than my husband don't write them off!

I'm 5 years older than my dp, he pursued me for about a year. I wasn't interested and just saw him as only something casual because he's very attractive, but too young for me 😒.
He wasn't interested in casual. We've been together 3 years, bought a house and have a toddler. He's the best thing I ever did.

Perhaps their real interest is children of a certain age and a 43 being more likely to have those. But i'm old, jaded and cynical.

I'm in shape because I do a fair bit of exercise and I wear nice clothes, have my hair done etc but I wouldn't say I look any younger than 43. Also, DD is 3, so still having tantrums 😂. In fact she's just had an epic one.

This was what I thought.

When I was OLD aged 43, I got messaged by a 16yr old. After I'd finished laughing, I showed my 16yr old son the profile - it was a lad in his school year! I replied and said 'hello irl name, I must mention to your mum that you've messaged me, how are you all'...🤣

Seems a small age gap to me.
