Where is my period?!

I wasn't sure where to post this.
My period is about a week late. I have taken three pregnancy tests, all negative. I'm not sure what's going on. I'm 39, my cycle is usually around 30 days, give or take 2/3 days. I track on my Fitbit, which is helpful. I'm worried, as it's so unusual for me. Should I wait a bit longer? Make an appointment at the GP? Thanks-any experiences would be appreciated.

Have you been stressed or anxious lately? That can alter your cycle. It happened to me a couple of times, degree final exams, problems at work were the cause. Each time I was desperate not to be pregnant which made the stress worse! Give it a little bit longer.

dudsville · 03/06/2022 11:23

At 39 you might be on the threshold of some changes.

stopthepain · 03/06/2022 11:23

Have you been stressed the past couple of months? Lost weight or exercised too much? If your cycle is usually predictable then it’s probably one of these.

Have you had Covid? I had it in March and my next period was lighter and later.

Wallabyone · 03/06/2022 11:24

Thanks so much for your reply. I don't feel especially stressed but we are trying to move house and I guess that could be subconsciously affecting me? I'm not really a stressy person, but also want desperately not to be pregnant so am now definitely fretting.

I haven't lost much weight, definitely not exercising more-I did read those as posible reasons on the NHS site but they don't fit.

Could it be 'changes'? I haven't had any other signs of it.

Thanks again for all your helpful replies - my husband is trying but it helps to talk it over here.

Gp will do nothing, just wait and see for the next few months.

DrDetriment · 03/06/2022 11:30

Just wait. This isn't unusual and you would be wasting your GP's time for this.

fruitpastille · 03/06/2022 11:32

Mine disappeared for about 3 months after having covid (also had booster around the same time).

Wallabyone · 03/06/2022 13:53

Thank you...interesting that the GP wouldn't do anything. I've just been out to buy two more pregnancy tests-not sure how many more I should do though, it feels a bit mad.

I haven't (to my knowledge) had covid since 2020, have had all the jabs though.

Had another negative, still no sign of period 😭

Spyke · 03/06/2022 15:53

With negative tests at this stage, the chance of pregnancy is basically nil. I know it’s not easy but just try to relax as much as possible 💛

Wallabyone · 03/06/2022 16:26

Thank you - I will try. I keep wondering whether it will suddenly appear or just reset next month. As it's never happened to me before, it's strange.

@Wallabyone it’s probably due to the stress from your house move. Doctors won’t help you until you’ve missed 3 periods in a row. Sometimes I skip a month and I’m in my mid 20s.

Wallabyone · 04/06/2022 10:01

@stopthepain Thanks so much for your reply. When you've skipped a month does it usually just appear at the right date the following month?

No. My ovulation day will change but the luteal phase length will be the usual length.

12weekstoloseweight · 04/06/2022 10:45

When was last Covid jab?

Wallabyone · 04/06/2022 10:58

My booster was in December-a while ago now x
