Can anyone else barely remember the baby days, even when they were quite recent?

I feel terrible about this. My children are 5 and 3 and I struggle to remember much about the first couple of years with the eldest. We moved house twice in that time and I find it so hard to place us in those houses and recall what we did on a day to day basis. I'm so reliant on photos and thank God I have them otherwise I worry it would all be a total blank! The first year after my eldest was born was fairly horrendous as I had pnd and he was a terrible sleeper, but surely I should recall more?! It makes me feel really sad. Is anyone else in the same boat?

It’s not just you, and it’s not just the baby days. Mine are 20 and 18, and when we found some old videos of them as babies I got quite choked up. I barely remember their childhoods as I was so busy just trying to stay afloat. They’re gorgeous and I love both of them to bits but, oh God they were relentless.

Oh no I thought it would get better! But yes I think the relentless nature of it all has a big impact- I feel like I'm in survival mode most days so my brain is mostly focused on how to get through the day.
