How often if at all do you check 14 year old phone?

I even a cursory glance to make sure they are not accessing bad websites etc?
Another thread on the child password had me thinking...I don't know my dd password.

At 14 ds had to leave his phone downstairs over night , we checked it regularly.

We checked quite a bit and DS still ended up getting groomed into county lines via Snapchat. He also sent and received nudes, hidden in the My Eyes Only section of snapchat. He attempted to buy fake money and drugs through WhatsApp.

I would advise you to not only check but to find out how all the apps work as kids will know all the ways of hiding things or making theme disappear.

The volume of messages can also be really hard to wade through. They can send thousands of messages a day on Discord.

We have an app called Google Family Link which allows you to set limits and the phone will lock after a certain time. This helps a bit. You can also block certain apps altogether.

I do on occasion. It’s a condition of him having a phone. He hates it but that’s too bad. He also has to leave it in my room overnight.

At 16 I would not be expecting him to share his password anymore.

I'm not sure what I would be looking for. Do you actually check messages with friends? She's such a sensible girl... but there is one small thing I'm slightly worried about but it feels intrusive
