Any cake bakers able to help?

I'm a decent baker but not amazing at decorating cakes. MIL has asked me to make a cake for a friend of hers for Monday. Normally when I make a cake on a week day I bake the cakes the night before and ice them when I get home from work in time for candles and a quick sing song after dinner.

I'll need to ice and decorate the cake on Sunday and take it over the MIL as I'm working on Monday and she wants it for her afternoon club or something. Will the cake still be ok iced with chocolate buttercream and with a chocolate drip the day before it's needed?

Of course!
I am a cake maker.
An iced cake tastes great for up to 3 days uncovered.
Just ice it straight away and cover with cling film or pop in an air tight container.
It will be fine. Some cakes take makers 3 days to create...
You can always add sugar water to your baked sponges to keep cake moist if needed

Yes - delicious!

Brilliant, thank you so much! I'm only a home baker and always end up doing things last minute but I just don't have time this weekend and I really want to take my time with the cake too.

Your cake will be absolutely fine, don't worry 😊

Yes, I think it will be fine. I usually bake at the weekend and iced cake still tastes fine well into mid-week. It may well even be fine for longer but it's usually gone by then!

Yes definitely! In a good tin. You can refrigerate if you are worried but I never bktber. (unless the room is hot ebough to melt butter!!!) .having said that I don't know what chocolate drip is made of!!!! But I regularly make cakes with butter cream filling and topping the day before they are needed and they are fine...

I always make sure I have the cake done the day before it's due. Or I'd be flapping around like a headless chicken trying to get it finished the morning of 😅
