How do I stop binge drinking?

I don't drink during the week but every weekend I drink far too much. I function okay, don't get massive hangovers, but I'm finally accepting I don't want to do this anymore

I've got some emotional stuff going on just now but I am a strong woman

One weekend at a time. Try no drinking next weekend. Don't have alcohol in the house.

Change what you do - do things when you would normally be drinking that you don't usually do to try and break the old habits. If you normally drink wine while watching telly, have a long bath and read a book or something instead.

Think in advance about what you're going to do instead of drinking and make sure you have nice non-alcoholic drinks in the house to drink instead, so you don't feel like you're missing out.

And when you've got through one weekend, then two, it'll be easier to do weekends 3 and 4, and then you've gone a whole month without drinking. That starts to give you some space to think about why you end up drinking too much and whether you can do anything about it. You can think about if you even want to start again - it's not compulsory, and you might find you like not drinking. It's not as scary as it seems right now and has upsides, I promise!

You don't have to quit for ever, just stop for a bit and see how it goes.

Immerse yourself in quit lit. The unexpected joy of being sober, by Catherine Grey is great, as is Annie Grace’s this naked mind.
Janey-Lee Grace’s podcast is good too.
