Honeymoon advice

Hoping some wise mumsnetters can offer some advice!

We’re getting married in November and want to go away straight after the wedding. We were planning a fairly intense but very fun trip where we moved locations every 2-3 days, but everyone we speak to is telling us we won’t want to do that on our honeymoon. Everyone says just go somewhere hot where we can relax because we’ll be so exhausted after our wedding.

We’ve never been abroad just the two of us before despite being together for 8 years (a combo of being poor students, poor graduates, me going back to uni and then as soon as we could have started planning exotic holidays covid hit!) but I’m very well travelled, so I do know how tiring this kind of holiday can be… but I’ve never been a beach holiday/villa with a pool person and I can’t imagine enjoying it much.

Does anyone have any advice? What did you all feel like doing after getting married? We’re you exhausted and keen to just veg out or shall we stick to our original plan? I’d also love to hear where you went on honeymoon and if you enjoyed it, and if you have any November holiday destinations you’d recommend - we know it’s a weird time!

Do both.

We did a few days in KL and did lots of sight seeing and exploring. Then we went to Bali for a week and lounged by the pool and read books.

I think you can find a middle ground. I definitely wanted a couple of days to just relax, let the wedding sink in. I was on a real high after ours, just all the stress and excitement built up and it took me a few days to come down. We went to Barcelona so did a mix of lying by the (roof top) pool, beach days and sight seeing.

If you have not been abroad for a while, I think you should have longer than 2 to 3 days in one place.
