funny how the terminally dim are proud to flaunt their ignorance over metric units aren't quite so keen (and in fact know fuck all) about the pound-shilling-pence we had ripped from us in the name of "Europe" even before we joined the EU.

If you 're "struggling" with metric units and perversely "struggle" with pounds shilling and pence then you really need to keep very quiet. Because I might want a refund for the past 50 years of your education.

I write as someone who paid tax in Lsd and was looking at retiring on about 8 old pounds a week.

I love imperial currency and reading about 'D Day'. Sadly I missed out on it as I was born in the mid-1970s but DH was ten when we switched so I get him to talk to me about it. I wouldn't like having to do calculations in it, for all that!

You'd get the hand of it pretty quick. Us olden days people could do sums in pounds, shillings and pence, yards, feet and inches, stones, pounds and ounces from quite young as it was taught in school. It's not that difficult. You just "carry over" at numbers other than 10.

I always think of my weight and height in imperial measures, but I use metric for cooking. Also my measurements for clothes buying are always inches in my mind. It's interesting how many people use a mixture for different things.

Well, it could be - as long as you dose in grains rather than mcg.
