How do I get a ball out of the gutter? Two storey house but everything I can see on Amazon (gutter cleaners) say suitable for one storey only. Help!

Ladder?

pippinsleftleg · 28/05/2022 20:15

I haven’t got a ladder that long, and wouldn’t like to go up one.

I was hoping someone would have a link to a whizzy stick thing that I could poke around.

Could you poke it out from a high window?

Do the gutters need a clean? You could get them cleaned and get them to retrieve the ball at the same time.

I could buy the shorter version if the whizzy stick and try poking it out of the window (bit worried about falling out though)

Get the window cleaner to get it??

I'd do that.

The chances of hanging out of a window trying to retrieve something from a gutter ending badly are quite high.

Run the hose on the roof and see if it floats out .

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 28/05/2022 20:48

Is it a tennis ball sized ball? Will it go down the downpipe? I'd be worried about it blocking the gutter. Even more so if the downpipe is not accessible at the bottom!

Have you got a neighbour with a long ladder?

I have made all sorts of gadgets to get muck and plants out my gutters !
Need a diagram so see where windows are in relation, I might have an idea(might being the operative word)

Oldraver · 29/05/2022 19:17

If you're not going to have rain for a few days I would be tempted to cut the downpipe, blank off the bottom bit. Then pull the other bit to one side so hopefully it will fall in out

We had a shuttle cock go down ours and block the soak away causing much work for OH

Ask a window cleaner to get it out for you if you don't have a window at a higher level than the gutter. DS got one out of our gutter recently by leaning out the window in the loft and poking it out with a washing line prop.
