Anyone with this on their sofa - how do you clean it? Got a stupid pale grey velvet sofa that unsurprisingly is filthy from having too small children. Professional cleaning or dry cleaning is so expensive, I'm really tempted to stick covers in the machine on a wool wash. Has anyone done this?

*2 small children. They are not too small. They are more or less the right size for their ages.

Anyone?? If it helps - Composition is 75% cotton and 25% polyester and instructions (that I want to ignore) are dry clean only...

I realise this whole thread is just me talking to myself but... in case it helps anyone else - put it in the machine on a gentle cycle & it was absolutely fine!

I don't need the washing tips but I really laughed at your explanation of your appropriate-sized children, OP!!!

I know it has been 2 years but if you are still around I would love to know how you got on with washing your sofas as I have the same fabric.

I’ve just come online to look for exactly this. Thank you so much!!!

ps also really enjoyed the clarification of child sizes 😆

If it’s any use to anyone, best thing I found is car upholstery cleaner. Don’t scrub though. Shake well, spray on then with a damp cloth or large damp sponge ( a new car washing sponge is ideal) just push the foam around. Leave until totally dry then vacuum or brush with a soft brush.

Also just found this thread, about to put my navy smart velvet covers in the machine!!!! Going to use delicate cycle and dry outside, wish me luck!!!!

Happy to report covers have survived, look and smell great again 🤗
30 degree normal cottons cycle
a tip for anyone else reading this; keep them zipped up when washing otherwise the white fluff from inside escapes!
