Used car prices

I know no-one has a crystal ball...but obviously they're very high at moment due to supply chain issues.

I need to upgrade my old crappy car due to travel requirements of a new job, I'm going to get a nice car a couple of years old.

Better to buy now or wait a few months?!

A column in last weeks Sunday Times, by the economics editor mentioned that second hand car prices are now falling, so maybe wait a few months. I suppose we don't really know what's going to happen though.

@Mistymountain thank you, that's interesting. I'll try and find that article.

My gut feeling is to wait...but I'm being typically impatient and want a nice upgraded car NOW ha ha

Ive been wondering the same thing, especially as an article in the telegraph today said the opposite, used car prices to increase until 2024!

@Playgrind oh it's so difficult isn't it! I can guarantee whichever decision I take it'll be the wrong one Grin

@PuffyMcPuffFace I am in the same position and like you a bit impatient to get a new one.

My car at the moment seems to be falling to pieces in minor ways and it is bugging me.
Would like a decent car.

I have decided to wait though, sitting on my hands, until I can get a nice car that i can also afford.
I really hope these prices do come down!

I'm yet to see evidence of the chip issue resolving itself so I can't see any reason for prices to reduce

YogaLite · 28/05/2022 13:04

With serious greed being the current state of affairs, I don't expect prices to come down much anywhere :(

Agreed. I work in the semiconductor industry and can't see an end in site
