How long after pre op will I be waiting for the op?

So I have my pre op within the next week, for gallbladder surgery, does anyone know how long I will be waiting for the actual operation? (no date as yet)

Trying to work out if I can book a holiday mid July!

I would have thought this will be quite area dependent. Probably worth waiting and seeing if they can give you any idea at the pre-op appointment. It can sometimes be quick if you are able to be flexible and accept cancellations. Be aware that if you are on a surgery wait list it will make travel insurance considerably more complicated!

Pre-ops are done early so that they have patients ready to slot into last minute cancellations. You can ask at pre-op how long the wait is generally at the moment. BTW is flying, we normally say 6 weeks either side of surgery not too due to increased risks of a DVT, so you need to factor that in and let your consultant’s secretary know.
