What to do with the ashes?

We lost my beloved 17yo pussy cat a few months ago and I was forced by friends and family into getting her ashes back, which I didn't want to do but here we are.

The ashes are just sitting in a box in the corner as I've no idea what to do with them.

She was an indoor cat, so no place to spread them except a tiny spot of long grass in the garden she would lie in, but the dogs also dig there.

I've looked at memorial jewellery, but don't want ashes inside an empty container round my neck - I'd rather a diamond type item, but the cost is terrifying. Not too sure I like the resin jewellery, it looks a bit cheap and like it won't last long?

Most of the cat shaped urns are, erm, weird, but she's also a long haired cat and none of the urns seem to look at that. Do they even put the ashes into memorial glass items like they claim or will I just be ripped off?

It feels wrong to just throw the ashes somewhere she's never been.

I wish I'd stuck to my guns.

WWYD?

Sorry for your loss op.. We lost one of our 2 brothers 2 years ago. His ashes are under a lovely plant in this planter...

Hmm, a planter is actually an idea - at least we could take it with us if we move?

What a beautiful cat! Sorry for your loss.

I think I saw something where ashes can be incorporated into a picture.

I'll have a google.

It was this but she's not in the U.K. lovely idea though.

Alternatively you can get photo frames but have a box behind them which is the urn that contains the ashes.

What a beauty op. A proper chocolate box dcat!

Scatter at the pet Cemetery? My friend didn't want her dogs ashes back, so they said they would wait a month, then scatter them.

One of my cats ashes are in a sleeping, curled up cat shaped urn on my fireplace. He was long haired and the urn has lines which mimick that. My other cats ashes are currently in the box they came in in the loft! I bought an urn but it didn't suit her, so sent it back and haven't got round to getting another, might actually do it now! She will also go on the fireplace. You can get photo frames with little boxes for ashes on them, or i have seen on etsy places which put the ashes into a glass picture type thing.

What a beautiful cat! I’m so sorry for your loss.

I know it sounds morbid, but I currently have the ashes of two cats, and plan on having them buried with mine, and any more cat ashes, when my time comes.

CornishPorsche · 20/05/2022 10:59

Some great ideas. I actually like the idea of her ashes with mine eventually.

She was a beautiful puss and a brilliant companion to me through some very dark times. I miss her so much

My mum has the ashes of her 3 dogs in urns, they're just simple wooden boxes with a plaque on that says their name. They're just in the cupboard under the stairs. She wants them buried with her too.

It's heartbreaking to lose a much loved pet. This has made me cry over my beautiful cat that I lost 18 months ago - I never knew you could be so attached to a pet as I was to her! Our new cats have certainly brought me some comfort but they're not a patch on my old one. They probably will be in time, but I had my old cat for 15 years, so it's going to take us all some time.

I know it's not an option for you but we have ours buried in the garden with a beautiful sleeping cat ornament on top. The new cats we have often sit on top of it which brings me so much comfort, even though I know my old cat would have absolutely hated the new ones!

I love the idea of some sort of a box photo frame though. Your cat was absolutely gorgeous and I'm so sorry for your loss x
