App for basic Ukrainian

A Ukrainian child has just joined DS's class (year 5 primary) and DS has been asked to help them settle in. The child does not speak English and they are using a translation app to chat. DS would like to learn a few basic Ukrainian phrases, we have tried Duolingo but it's not particularly helpful, has anyone come across anything that might be of use? Thanks

The child will learn English much quicker if your DS just sticks to English that's kind of how it will work best. They'll figure it out between them both. Your DS, or you, are completely overthinking this.

DD's school use reverso - an app and webpage. They have refugees from many countries and find the idioms make better sense than Google translate.

It might be that their personalities just don't gel in which case the Ukrainian child needs to be with someone he clicks with better to learn the language.

Thanks for the replies, of course the child will be learning English, he has only been in the school since Monday. DS was just looking for a few basics like good morning, how are you etc just to make him feel welcome. I'll take a look at the reverso app.
