Fit notes

Does anyone know if a GP would write a different reason for sickness on a fit note? Asking for a family member who has bad depression but would like to keep it private in case it was to affect their role at work? Or could they just not state a reason? Cant find a clear answer on google, that said perhaps only the GP could give one really. Thanks.

You mean commit fraud? No they wouldn't do that.

No they won't and it's unreasonable to ask tbh

Absolutely not.

My GP wrote something on mine that was true but not not the precise diagnosis.

So, yes, I think the GP will be able to find a suitable get around.

In my workplace on the absence reporting system you can hide the reason for sickness from your line mgr and only leave it visible to HR.

Could that be an option?

Yes they 100% can. When I had a miscarriage my GP asked what I wanted written on the fit/sick note. They can be selective and sensitive in what they write,
