My DH and I are heading to Chester in a couple of weeks for our 20th wedding anniversary.
Can anyone recommend a lovely restaurant for us to go to in the evening? Not too fussy on cuisine, just want something not too expensive but a bit romantic!
Thanks

You'll be spoilt for choice but leave the chain restaurants, try Sergio's, The Green House, Da Noi, Carbonara, Covino, Porta (although you can't book there), just a few of the independents, have fun!

Hi,

I live in Chester and highly recommend The Forge restaurant which is situated in Hotel Indigo.

If you like somewhere with a bit of music, some cocktails and good food, Opera Grill is fab.

If you can get a booking at the Chef's Table, I'd go there.

If not I'd queue up for Porta.

Depending on what type of food you fancy -

Siam Thai and teppanyaki for Thai
porta for tapas
covino for small plates and great wines
hamayuu for Japanese and fabulous sushi,
Chef's table for the best and most inventive food in the area! My favourite!
Stile Neapolitano for pizza
Upstairs at the grill is reopening soon - has been shut for ages being refurbished, that was always great for steaks.

I would have said the forge like a pp but after a few nice meals we've had 2 v poor meals there in a row so can't recommend it - one meal was actually inedible and Ive never experienced that in any restaurant (even McDonald's!)

Aargh why does the formatting not work at more? There were new lines and paragraphs in my previous post!
