looks like a sort of elongated bumblebee with a bushy white moustache. Never seen one before!

That’s definitely a species of bee. They can be difficult to identify but there are guides out there. I’m in awe of the experts who can identify dozens of different species by a quick look!

Narcissus Bulb Fly. They do look very much like bees at first glance.
