Any ideas what on Earth this monstrosity is we found washed up on shore?

Following out of curiosity. Looks squidish to me but that's just a guess

I think so

I think it's a skate/ray skeleton, or something similar along those lines. It's technically made of cartilage rather than bone but I grew up by the seaside and we used to see them quite a bit!

Yep. Part of the cartilaginous skeleton from a ray. Head area.
