I solved Semantle #112 in 50 guesses with 1 hint. My first guess had a similarity of -0.32. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #16. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 25.62 (695/1000). semantle.com/

Hints have sort of got me somewhere but I am stuck on 998 and can't get higher.

Thanks for the clues. The higher greens I had (985, 991, 992) were more of a hinderance than a help vs 952

I don't suppose anyone would have got either of those words. For the former, I can see that the target word is relevant to it (rather than the other way round) - look at the Wikipedia entry for that word and you'll find the target or close derivative of it mentioned quite a few times.

I had about 50 greens and none were in the same area at all. I don’t even know why I even guessed the word at all, it wasn’t like the other greens by miles.

Ok got it, but it was nothing like any of the greens I had (and I had 50 of the greens).
I'd even guessed the two main things involved and the thing it's on and they were all cold.
That is a ridiculous list.

I did get a ???? With a similarity over 50. It's not something I'd logically link with the word except very tenuously.

Actually I have found it. No idea how all these words relate!

I had loads of greens and was stuck, took a hint which set me off on a load of greens on a completely different theme, got stuck again and took another hint which was 994 which as @Neu said was very helpful.
