Unicorn doorstep visit!?

There's a company locally to us that do unicorn doorstep visits - they turn up with a pony dressed as a unicorn and let the kids stroke them, take photos etc.

It's my son's first birthday coming up and I'd love to get him a unicorn doorstep visit!! (There will be older siblings and cousins there who would also enjoy it)

The cost is £50, is this a crazy idea for a first birthday? Any ideas of equivalent ideas that are more typically 'boyish' (not that boys can't like unicorns!)?

You could have character visits if he doesn’t like unicorns. In the past we’ve had disney princesses, hulk, buzz & woody.

He's 1?? Get him a balloon and save the £50 for next year when he'll be far more aware of what's going on.

He’s one! Bake a cake and invite family over to watch him blow spit over it.

Don’t spend £50 on something he’ll have no clue is meant to be “special” and may miss if he has an unexpected nap/fever/poo explosion/tantrum.

I agree. Have a family BBQ, lots of booze, birthday cake!
Keep the fancy stuff for when he is a bit older.

I agree with @ChiselandBits hes got no idea what’s happening but also it seems cruel to stick stuff on a pony and parade it around the streets in front of loads of people.
