5 year old DS low white blood cells

I took DS to the gp around 4 weeks ago as after eating he’d complain of stomach ache now and then. He also has diarrhoea quite regularly and noticed he’s gone off food he used to like. I initially thought maybe some type of intolerance so the doctor referred him to the hospital for blood tests. He had them done yesterday and I got a phone call from the gp this morning to say everything came back normal apart from his white blood cells. The hospital want him to go back for some more tests so I’m waiting to receive a appointment letter. Very stupidly I googled and I’ve done nothing but worry since. I am hoping it’s due to his body fighting off some kind of infection but he’s not unwell at the minute and the last time he was poorly was at the end of March with a stomach bug. I really am worried sick and wish I wouldn’t have googled😔

DS has an almost permanently low white blood cell count and raised lymph nodes. He's been for rafts of tests, and remains super-healthy.

The conclusion the consultant reached was that he's actually got a very effective immune system that's in overdrive fighting off all the infections that fell his classmates.

I know it's so hard, but try not to worry. Flowers for you.

If they were worried, they'd have him back that same week not send you a letter.

Did anything come back of this OP? My daughter complained of stomach pains when eating and they did full bloods and coeliac screening. Coeliac screening not back yet but she has slightly low white blood cells and they said something about differentials..
