idiot level iphone question

my faithful, ancient SE just died and am waiting for a new phone to arrive but being a bit thick about how to set the new phone up... any advice would be hugely appreciated because I'm a proper tech idiot! The old phone is completely dead - won't turn on/charge/anything. I don't think i ever set up 2-factor authentication using that phone .... does that mean I'll be able to just use my Apple ID/password and get cracking on the new phone or is it more complicated than that? thanks for any tips!

Did your old one back up to the Cloud? If so, you should be able to set up your new one from the most recent back up -the new one will talk you through it.
Give the old one one last shake; if it turns on at all, the transfer is easy peasy -they just sit next to each other -but it sound like it’s already gone to The Good Place…

Has the old one got any life in it at all? If so you just put them next to each other and it happens wirelessly.
