Spa recommendations Leeds/Yorkshire

At the start of June I have my two final exams for a qualification I am doing and after seeing an advert for a spa on Facebook yesterday I thought it would be a nice way to finally relax after a stressful two years.

The spa I saw the advert for was Ye olde bell hotel in Retford which is about 45 minutes from where I am and I'm happy to travel but I've only recently moved to the Leeds area so I'm wondering if anyone has any other recommendations? I am happy to travel up to an hour and I'm only bothered about having spa access for an afternoon not any treatments. I did have a look on google and found Chevin Country Park Hotel but the website is a bit unclear about whether you can just access the spa so I will need to contact them. Lots of the other options on google were over Skipton way but as I am East of Leeds I preferably wouldn't go any further west than Bradford.

So please do hit me with any recommendations you have for spa's within about an hour of Leeds Smile

Rudding Park is the best spa in the area.

Titanic near Huddersfield is perfect. I don't think you have to have treatments and the facilities are beautiful x

I’d second titanic spa. Going in a few weeks for almost my 10th time.
Rudding park is on my to do list though.

I don't like Titanic because it's very short of jacuzzi type facilities. Also the restaurant, which is also open to non spa guests, is right in the middle of the spa, so it feels a bit weird.

Rudding Park is too popular with people who spend a lot of time curating their experience around a carefully placed champagne bucket and posting it on social media for my liking.

Chevin has a nice outdoor hot tub and is in nice surroundings, but is very small, especially the changing rooms.

Have a look at Center Parcs at Sherwood, that's a lovely big proper spa and you can go for an afternoon, or the twilight session is very good value and lots of nice facilities.

The best one in northern England is the Woodland at Burnley, but that's further away than your criteria, but definitely worth the journey - I'm just west of Leeds, so all the above are about the same travel wise - Titanic is probably the closest, but not worth it to me.

Rudding park is lovely but yes does attract the Instagram crowd(which actually I found fascinating being at the time 49 and feeling I’d made an effort as I’d whipped a razor over my bikini line ) . I think midweek and mornings aren’t as bad. Could you get over the border to Lancashire? Crow wood in Burnley is lovely

BarbaraofSeville · 11/05/2022 12:03

Crow Wood is the same as Woodland Spa that I mentioned, just to confirm. It's a hotel/gym/restaurant/spa complex.

All of the above I mentioned I've just been for a day or half day, sometimes with lunch or afternoon tea, but never had any treatments.

I love Thorpe park. My husband stays there every week for work, and he used to get points on his stays for personal use, but they've stopped it. Lovely spa days been had there.

Ah yes how could I forget about Sherwood! We have been to center parcs there a few times and love the spa so I might take a look at that.
My cousin lives in Preston so I have been to the Woodland Spa with her a couple of times for our birthdays and love it but it's just a bit further than I would like to travel this time.
