DD’s Instagram has been hacked...help!

Is there any tech wizards that can help me out.

DD 13 isn’t allowed a private Instagram account but does have one that is connected to her sport and it has a lot of memories/pictures as well as growing a bit of following with like minded girls.

She found out this morning that it has been hacked by someone trying to sell bitcon and they have not only posted on her stories and posted on her grid but have changed her login details

I’ve just gone to in to try and retrieve it but that also seem to have changed the phone number and email associated with the account so we are well and truly locked out. We have reported but not sure what good it will do.

DD is so upset that her account might be lost and she has to start again so thought it was worth asking if anyone had had similar or knew a solution?

Once your IG has been hacked (as in, passwords/email/phone number changed) there’s no way to get it back unless IG respond to your report and launch an investigation. Hopefully they will but it is quite rare. Sorry to your DD!

This happened to a friend of mine and she couldn’t get anything back as she was totally locked out; sorry OP.

The only thing that could work is if she has Facebook and can log in via that to get it back, but I assume at 13 she’s too young for it

If a disabled message pops up, there may be a simple log-in issue. However, if the hacker deleted the account, there's no way to restore it. Instead, you can sign up for a new Instagram account using the same email address. You can ask any of your Instagram Followers if there is any change in your profile.
