2 nights in Bournemouth dinner bed and breakfast
I don't want to drive once there
Recommendations gratefully received for:
Places to walk to
Shopping other than normal high street stuff
Bars/cafes - +-views for coffee drinks and lunches
Other ideas on what to see or do

Whereabouts in the city are you staying and how far do you want to walk?

peanutpancakess · 09/05/2022 10:07

I'm in Bournemouth area, as PP said where are you staying?

West cliff hotel
Walking round trip 10 miles over a day is fine - maybe 4 mile stretches with breaks for coffee/lunch
Planning to walk to sandbanks ferry at some point

Also if forced to eat dinner early will want to walk after that - I usually eat 9ish but if I've got to eat at 730, I can't just lounge about for the rest of the evening

Savoy Hotel has a lovely terrace for drinks & food, looking out to the sea

westbourne beach area is much nicer than Bournemouth beach area - calmer and quieter

And I remember from when a child, toilets were 2p. Do I need to get 20p's or something now?

I stayed at the Savoy when little. Also the Tralee and the High cliff. May go to savoy for pre dinner drinks then 😊

Westbourne is an easy walk and has independent shops, East Cliff beach is quiter than main Bournemouth. Brownsea Island is a nice trip on the boat, Poole Harbour has independent shops but you would need to get the bus. When are you going, you could see if there is anything on at the BIC or the Pleasure Gardens. Sometimes they have exhibitions or little stalls in the Pleasure gardens, they are good to walk through but Bournemouth town and beach get very busy at the weekends, i don't know if they have the beach Friday fireworks anymore. Going the opposite direction Christchurch is worrh visiting, there are shops, cafe and the Priory and harbour and loads of buses go there.

Sorry, i think its the Lower Gardens that have the market and art fair, not the pleasure gardens. The hotel is near Alum Chine which has a quieter beach
