How late is too late to knock for your balls?

Next door keep on landing their balls, obviously accidentally, into my garden.

Their dad knocks each time, with one of them with him.

Last night I was in the bath and heard a knock. Silence. Then bang bang! I went down a bit concerned at it was then again asking for their balls

They looked apologetic but still. I sent H to throw them over

The night before it was 10pm, I could easily be seen through the kitchen window sorting washing. They knocked and asked again

How late is too late as ideally I don't want to interact with anyone when I'm 'getting ready for bed'

Oh gosh if you've got young kids I refine my time suggestion to 6pm. Anything after that is bedtime and thereafter I'm tired and cranky.

If you throw them back, they don't need to knock! You are the one being unreasonable.

Tosh. If the neighbours can’t keep the balls in their own garden then they can wait for the OP to be ready to throw them back. She’s not a fucking Wimbledon ballboy.

Sorry but your neighbours sound like complete dicks! No way would I be helpful to arseholes who spoke to my child like that. And honestly my kids play football in the garden daily and I can count on 1 hand how many times they've sent balls into neighbouring gardens. Shut the door in their faces and be very very clear, no more rudeness, be polite and then maybe I'll return your balls unharmed.....

They need to get better at football or whatever game they're playing. Just don't answer the door.

I wouldn't have got out of the bath to go to them anyway.

Tell them that you will throw the balls back once a day at your own convenience and they will just have to wait until you do. I'd also tell them that if this continues and seems to be deliberate then you won't return them at all and will report them for trespass if they enter the garden themselves.
