Should I upgrade to Windows 11?

My computer has just asked me this. Should I do it? I've heard conflicting things.

Just giving this a little bump, as my lap top asks me this every now and then.

I have just upgraded to Windows 11. There are some obvious differences which did confuse me at first. The start menu is in the middle of the notification area instead of on the left. Scanning is real fun! Some of the icons are hard to find plus scans are stored in "pictures" and are called just "scans" not "my scans" as before. I am not very tech minded but these are the differences I have noticed so far. I use my Kindle Fire for general use. I tend to use my laptop for scanning and creating documents.

The layout & general operation bites. But, you won't have a choice for long. Security, updates & features will require the upgrade. Eventually you'll be forced to do it anyway.

I don't have any real issues except navigation sucks. It makes zero sense.

If it's a popup becareful it's not full of viruses ect as usually very suspicious, better to go to a computer shop and ask them for advice,

Rather than later realising it was a virus and malware ecf

If you want the best Windows OS for gaming, then Windows 11 is for you. This is advice from my brother. He has just upgraded to Windows 11. He noticed some obvious differences and features. However, I don't plan to upgrade soon. And I won't make this step without finding a reliable source of windows keys. When I installed the 10th version, I found where to buy windows 10 key. Fortunately, there are many forums with tips on how to activate and where to get them. This option cheaper than to buy a key through the Microsoft Store. But I haven't done any research for windows 11 keys yet.

So, what did you decide? Did you do the upgrade?

BlueChampagne · 11/10/2023 13:24

Not if you use Sage 50. It has messed up all my auto emails!

I had a similar moment when my computer prompted me to update. I was unsure because I’d heard mixed reviews, too. Ultimately, I decided to go for it after doing some research, and it turned out fine!

The new features were pretty helpful, and I didn’t notice any major issues. If you're still on the fence, I recommend checking out bnhsoftware.com. They have great software reviews that helped me weigh the pros and cons before making my decision.

Just make sure to back up your data first, just in case! Trust your instincts, and good luck with whatever you decide!

Win 11 is free for valid win10 users, with supported H/W, without the h/w you cannot upgrade.

You don't need to buy anything atm.

MS is offering a support package for £xx for those without the h/w.

OP - you can roll back without issues for up to 10 days after moving to win 11.

Just make sure that any prompts to upgrade come from your windows update app.
