Do your kids get an extra half term day on Fri 27th??

Ours do and I'm wondering how many other schools have done the same?

If we have odd teacher training days I like to try to do popular museums etc as they won't be as busy if lots are still in school!

Mine had it added on to half term.

VioletHills · 05/05/2022 07:44

Ours is county-wide and the last day of the summer term.

popandchoc · 05/05/2022 09:25

Our extra day off is 27th June.

Smallorangecat · 05/05/2022 09:31

No, we get a random Monday in the middle of June.

ifonly4 · 05/05/2022 10:27

Pupils are off on 6th June here - staff are in though.

My kids are on half term that week so are off anyway. The CF teachers have decided to finish a day early in July to get another day off Blush

@FancyFelix are you getting an extra day off work this year? Why shouldn't the teachers and kids get the same benifit?

ivegotthisyeah · 05/05/2022 10:38

North Yorkshire Friday before half terms is a teacher training day

JurasicPerks · 05/05/2022 10:38

Oh, and as to the original question, 3 different schools, 2 different LEAs here, and we are all at school the Friday before half term.

passport123 · 05/05/2022 10:51

Friday before half term and Monday after half term are common inset days so places like legoland often much busier than you would expect in term time

FusionChefGeoff · 05/05/2022 13:51

Great this is looking good!

I know there will still be some extra people who have that day off but we can't go in term time so this would be the next best option.

We are having ours as an extra day tacked into the start of the summer holidays

nearlyspringyay · 05/05/2022 13:53

Ours are breaking up a day earlier for summer. DH is a teacher, is school is too.

thewindbeneathmywings · 05/05/2022 14:45

Ours are off Friday 27th. We also had May Day off and the Thursday and Friday for the Jubilee.
We're west coast Scotland

Waxonwaxoff0 · 05/05/2022 14:51

Inset day at DS's school in Derbyshire.

FancyFelix · 05/05/2022 15:16

No I'm not getting an extra day off, because the extra bank holiday falls on a Friday and I don't work Fridays. I'm already off that day, as are most of the local teachers. I don't get to move the bank holiday to suit myself Confused

mogtheexcellent · 05/05/2022 15:19

we have the friday off AND an extra day on the summer holidays. west berks.

The Department for Education actually specified teachers have to work one less day this year. Schools were told to decide when to have this extra day. It's NOTHING to do with teachers moving the day "to suit themselves". If you think that's how it works, have a read of this so you know what's going on before you comment further:

If your local teachers aren't being given an extra day, then, as I said above, they should query it with their school or check their contract.

Mon 6th June

NothingIsWrong · 05/05/2022 19:36

If you are part time you should be getting the extra elsewhere to make up for it. When I was part time my allowance was 25 days plus BH's prorated down. This year the calculation would include 9 BH's not 8, so I would have got an extra 80% of a day off

generalh · 05/05/2022 19:48

My school had ours on September 1st last year.

dawnc27 · 05/05/2022 20:55
