Yes. We are planning on enjoying a long weekend whilst avoiding anything jubilee related like the plague.

Our village has planned a party on the green, but this weekend we all got a sniffy email threatening to cancel due to lack of support. Good.

MajorCarolDanvers · 03/05/2022 19:09

I'm off to Lanzarote and enjoying the extra bank holidays so using less leave.

God Bless Her Maj!

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 03/05/2022 19:10

I think I'll spend the 4 days doing a spot of wailing and gnashing of teeth. I might doff my cap a few times an hour and then cry with emotion over some back copies of Hello Magazine.

AngelicaElizaAndPeggy · 03/05/2022 19:12

Does anyone remember the 2012 jubilee? Is it just me or were people a bit more excited for that one?

I feel like people have zero fucks at the moment for the Queen and her next scheduled silly party.

Glitterspy · 03/05/2022 19:13

Camping trip with friends and street party with neighbours (whole closed road situation organised not by me!)

I think the Queen’s done alright and I like getting day drunk under a bit of Union Jack bunting (royal wedding was a right piss up at our local) so I’m all in for the jubilee!

ratspeaker · 03/05/2022 19:54

I’ll be in Greece

More important is the next week -Download Festival

SirChenjins · 03/05/2022 19:57

I’ve got four days off work - woohooo! Some of the neighbours are organising a street party so I’ll need to make sure I don’t get rat arsed and start shouting not nice things about the RF.

Its pretty annoying that its part of half term isn't it. Teachers and school kids don't get an extra bank holiday then and a lot of parents would like an extra day off with their kids.

Our school have been given the Monday off to count for the extra bank holiday, so they still get 4 days school holiday which they would normally have .

wanderingscot · 03/05/2022 20:00

Street party! I'm actually looking forward to the whole thing, but im not really a big fan of the Royals (apart from the Queen).

I can't remember it at all! (And not because I was too young, I was in my 30's). Just have zero recollection. Did we get an additional Bank Holiday?

balalake · 03/05/2022 20:17

Going to the local beacon lighting. In 2012 there was a dog who joined in the prayers, barking a nanosecond after everyone said Amen.

saggyhairyass · 03/05/2022 20:19

I'm rostered.to have a long weekend so I don't get any time off extra (seven nights on the trot after). I might try and see if there's any overtime on the Saturday, London is likely to be busy that weekend so I might be needed. I'm ambivalent towards the Royal Family, if I'm honest.

StuckInTheMiddleOfNowhere · 03/05/2022 20:20

No because i personally have no interest in the royals
Although most weekends are bbqs and pool parties with friends and family, from May onwards so no doubt be doing that but not for the reason of jubilee

StuckInTheMiddleOfNowhere · 03/05/2022 20:22

All schools have been given the extra day to take when they want. Dcs is this week though

AceofPentacles · 03/05/2022 20:22

Street party with pin the tail on the corgi

LovelyYellowLabrador · 03/05/2022 20:38

Pin the tail on the corgi !
love it

I might do some fancy food but nothing too major planned

My rolling rota shows I’m working.
i don’t care about working because I’ll get time and a half, I don’t care about the RF because they are anachronistic and should go.
not a popular opinion locally, 4 miles from Sandringham

CurlsandCurves · 03/05/2022 22:12

Working and getting paid time and a half to do so, happy with that!

Blankiefan · 03/05/2022 22:21

Nope. I'll have to take one of the days off work to cover school hols - DH will take the other one. We'll not be doing anything Jubilee related. It feels entirely irrelevant usually and given current world events, it feels really off.

nonopeno · 03/05/2022 22:30

I am dreading it. I am not a royalist. Our street have planned a street party, it's all become quite elaborate, the whatsapp group is a hive of activity (not always harmonious), there's talk of fancy dress, military planning to ensure the street is free from parked cars. We either need to hide all day with all curtains closed (which I fear is a little bit obvious), flee (who knows where to), or somehow smile and pretend, which is probably the most sensible option for maintaining neighbourly relations. I'll be glad when it's all over, mainly because my phone will stop pinging whenever the main organiser has a new idea.

ilovesooty · 03/05/2022 22:36

Yes. Leaving the country.

LuluBlakey1 · 03/05/2022 22:36

Our street- which is on a private road- is having a party. BYOfood and drink, chairs and tables and bunting etc, will be music and games. My heart has sunk. I am not going. DH says he and the DC are (he loves anything communal) so I might take myself off for a whole day walk with PIL's dogs and a packed lunch- Bamburgh to Holy Island and back.

Nope. Meant to go camping but neglected to book anywhere I liked the look of in time.

Pemba · 03/05/2022 23:00

There's nothing much to celebrate at the moment. Least of all the Windsor family, I would have thought. It'll be nice for people to get an extra day off though.
