Tell me about Eid

Firstly, Eid Mubarak to those who are celebrating 😊
I’ve realised that despite living in a very diverse area, with a high Muslim population I know very little about the celebration itself. I can tell it’s Eid by the general mood in the area but I’m interested in hearing what Eid is all about. I understand Ramadan, as DS friends, and various colleagues fast and observe strict rules, but I know a lot less about the celebration at the end.
If it’s Eid for you, what are you doing?

Following with interest as not Muslim myself but always love to learn more!
As far as I know Eid is the celebration at the end of Ramadan (kind of like our Christmas Day at the end of the advent countdown?)
Iftar I think is the evening meal in the evening that breaks fast?
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong
Seen a lovely post on a FB group I'm in earlier where someone had Muslim neighbours who had brought food round for them to celebrate despite not being Muslim themselves.
Seems a time of sharing and community to me.
Now going to shut up in the hope of people who are Muslim and celebrating answering!
(Eid Mubarak to all who are)

It definitely feels like a community thing here. DS best friend is Muslim and he’s been fairly quiet lately as a lot of the things they enjoy (music, dancing etc) are off limits but we’ve had fireworks and there seem to be more people out and about.
