What does everyone mean about thnumbers and "list"? Like what's 744 mean?

The game gives the 1000 nearest words a score, 999 being the highest, 1 the lowest. As we can't name the words, we use the numbers to reference them.

@WonderWomansBoobs have you actually played Cemantle yet?
When you are looking for the word, as you get close to it Semantically the word is given a number (up to 1000 which is the word itself).
When you find the word you can tick a box to see all the 1000 closest words, which we are using to help people get from, say, 100/1000 to a closer word.

I have a few more, anything useful here?

Think of 883 in a more historic sense than a current sense.
