Male colleagues' reaction to the watching of porn in Parliament

I was out with a few colleagues on Thursday and as soon as this topic came up three of my male colleagues vociferously said "oh he would have clicked on a WhatsApp link".
Anyway that's turned out not to be the case but it really gets to me that the second a man's behaviour is called into question other men seek to defend or minimise it.

Presumably this is why women aren't believed?

Maybe that’s how they defend their habits when questioned… I clicked on a link that Steve sent me I didn’t know it was a 15 min video of porn, but I had to watch till the end to make sure of what I was watching. Men and woman watch porn we all know it. Time and place IMO for everything.

If they are on WhatsApp chats where porn is shared they might want to ask themselves why that is, and get off those chats.

To them, porn is so completely ubiquitous that they can't really imagine an environment where it isn't.

You won't change him or lots of other people's minds. Pick your battles.

He's my MP. I sent him a stinking email on behalf of me and my NHS colleagues telling him exactly what we thought of him and his disgusting public porn habit. He is being ridiculed to death here in Somerset. No wonder he resigned.
