Alternatives to calpol wall plug

My son likes to have the calpol wall plug on when he’s got a cold. But these are getting expensive. Does anyone have any alternatives that they use?

He hates baby Vicks being rubbed into him, don’t know why but when he’s under the weather it’s not worth working him up so much just before bed so we can’t use that. TIA

Vicks on a muslin/cloth somewhere near his bed.

A diffuser with Olbas oil?

Boots do their own version of the refill pads that go inside, I think they are 2 years+, they work out slightly cheaper.

Few drops of olbas oil in a bowl of water. Cheap as chips.

Bowl of v hot water with Vicks in. So hot it's steaming (keep away from child, obvs)
