I've been given some pearl trinkets and would like to get them valued but haven't a clue where to start.
Can anyone help please?

Local jeweller? But there's a charge.

I would imagine any local jeweller would be able to tell you if they’re worth anything. I think if you want an insurance valuation they charge you a fee as @Ferngreen pointed out. I’ve always found the pawnbrokers can give you a rough idea 🙈

Thank you. Does anyone know any online services that can give approximate valuations?

Online is not the way to go, because the items would need to be physically examined by the person giving the valuation.
You can't tell whether a pearl is real, cultured or imitation from a photograph.

You could also try auctioneers. They often do a valuation fir free, assuming you might want to put it up for sale. There's no obligation to however.
Has to be done in person as pp says.

Online valuations would not be accurate. A proper valuer would need to 'feel the heft' as it were.
Also, there might be unscrupulous 'valuer/dealers' who could encourage you to send the item in for a valuation and you might not see the items again.

Local independent jewellers usually offer valuations , sometimes for free.
I wouldn't, personally, go to a High Street chain.

There is this lot who were set up by Deborah Meaden after appearing on Dragon's Den. I have had a very old fabric wall hanging valued from photos but I'm not sure they can do precious stones.
