Stupid passport question

Dd needs a passport and is going from a child’s one to an adult passport. Is this a first adult passport application? A renewal?
I’m renewing her passport but it will be her first adult one.
PS I’m having a sneaky look while I’m at work so I’m sure the information is there but I’m not seeing it!
TIA

First adult passport.

WhatsitWiggle · 08/01/2023 11:33

It's a renewal as per this page

You've got a passport so your child's details are in the system, you do an adult passport renewal.

It was a renewal! Sadly, despite there being 4 months between applying and her holiday, her passport didn’t come back in time and she missed her first girly holiday with her friends that she’d worked so bloody hard to pay for 😭

Oh no! Sorry to read your update.
Too late now but I had issues with my sons renewal that I sent in April and after 9 weeks of applying and not getting anywhere I was able to call them and upgrade it for a fee - I picked it up the next day.
You could have also turned up and queued to get it providing your application had been in the system 6 weeks and you were travelling within the next 48 hour's. They were allowing this due to the backlogs.
Such a shame she missed her holiday.

We called and called, our phonecalls were never answered, hours of phoning. We debated driving to Durham but it’s a 6 hour drive from here (of course it has to have ended up as far away as possible) and we had no idea if it had already been posted and therefore on its way causing a wasted 12 hour round trip plus whatever the queue would have been - the tracking system was really delayed. My mum did hers the week before and got it back in 3 weeks, and 2 weeks after receiving it got a text to say it had been posted.
it was just one of those shit situations.
I felt terribly for dd, it was so hard for her seeing all her friends go off the the holiday but these things happen unfortunately.

What a shame, hopefully your DD can have a fabulous holiday next summer.
