Chickpox - big scab on forehead just came off

My son has / has chickpox which started last Monday over a week ago...the biggest one being on his forehead.

Hes always been very clumsy and just decided to accidently hit his head and the scabs come off.

Firstly, He was due to go back to school tomorrow and now it looks like it hasn't scabbed over. Concerned I'm going to be judged when they all have most certainly scabbed over.

Secondly, is there anything I can do with this. It'll likely scar and its right in the centre of his forehead. Do I just leave it?

This happened to both my daughters. One does have a scar, but it’s faded as she’s got older and I’m far, far more conscious of it than she or anyone else is. It’s just a little crater. With DD2 had no luck as usual with the GP, so took her to the pharmacist (kept her in the car and he very kindly came to see her) and he suggested Savlon, which seemed to work as she didn’t get any sort of scar.

That looks to me like where a scab has come off, not where one has not been in the first place. Pre-scabbing over, chicken pox spots are pussy, not bloody. So fro ma school perspective, I wouldn't worry.

It might scar, yes. DD had a chickenpox scar on her cheek. It has slowly faded. You could try putting some vitamin e oil or bio oil or something on it but you'd have to do it consistently for ages (once it heals up).

In my experience, the scabs that filled with blood scarred, the ones that didn't didn’t.

Sorry, the spots that filled with blood instead of the normal liquid scarred (I’m talking about before they scabbed over. What did it look like before it came off?

You can see if hydrocolloid dressings from the chemists help.

I had it at 19 and loads of those huge ones on my forehead, a few came off just washing and they scarred but I was all out of growth hormone at 19. Hopefully his skin will repair.

How did this heal in the end? My daughter has got a similar looking wound on her scalp where the scab has come off too early ☹️
