Packing New York Help!

So lucky to be going and would have been so excited to go a couple of years ago but REALLY do not have the motivation to decide what to take. Real downer on my looks- over 50 and losing my hair- not enjoying going out anywhere anymore. Usual look is reasonably on trend I ' spose wide leg trousers, platformy trainers, cowboy boots, classic quality knits , linen etc. Any inspiring ideas what outfits to take to New York- trainers, jacket, jeans, going out , pyjamas. Would be really grateful for anything to get me motivated and excited to go x

When are you going and for how long?

Very comfortable shoes is where I would start. I broke my feet in NY once by wearing new ankle boots with small heel. Since then I have only worn trainers when I have visited. It also depends when you are going and what you are doing. I never dress up in NY. Comfort and layers all the way.

I went at the start of April, the comfiest shoes you can afford are a must (I bought some Nike Air Force 1's and was so glad I did as the one day I wore my normal trainers my feet ached by 11am!) and if you are going soon then layers. The weather is stabilising now but still a few colder days predicted by the looks of it,Spring weather is crazy you see all 4 seasons in one day. During our stay we had a day that was -2 degrees and one that was 17 degrees! It shouldn't be getting that cold now though.

It depends when you are going. I have been in March (freezing) and June (warm and humid). In the June I wore lined trousers and a cotton top, took a couple of lightweight cardigans for the evening. Didn't ever get dressed up for the evening, tended to eat somewhere casual then collapsed in the hotel! I would recommend sketchers sandals or Go walks.

I also normally try to be 'trendy' ish but once we were there comfort topped everything! I mainly wore mom jeans with a t shirt or long sleeve roll neck and cropped jumpers. Took one nicer outfit for evenings but when we did go out at night I ended up just wearing what I had worn in the day, most places are very casual.

Everyone just wears leggings and down coats in NY.
